Bio
Hello all! My name is Shekita Styles, and I am excited about the forthcoming year! I am entering into my 22nd year in the field of education, and I feel that this year is going to be the best one yet. As a new teacher in the "Hawk's Nest", I am looking forward to all the great things that happen here at Huntington Middle School as well as being a part of a great and growing community.
I began my teaching career in Putnam County, which is my hometown. Altogether, I taught in Putnam for 19 years at the kindergarten, 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th grade levels. I also taught in Henry County for two years at the kindergarten and second grade levels.
My undergraduate degree was earned at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. I also have an M.S. degree in Literacy and Language as well as an Ed.S. in Instructional Technology, which I earned from the University of West Georgia.
It is my strong belief that anyone can learn as learning is the portal that opens the door to a plethora of life's possibilities. That said, it will be my pleasure to guide students towards an understanding of the "whats and whys" of their educational journey and build relationships with them along the way. Let's get ready to SOAR at HMS!!!
