Mrs. McDonald graduated as valedictorian of her high school class and then went on to earn her Associates of Arts degree in Political Science from Brewton Parker College in 1985.  In 1988, she graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from Georgia Southern University.  Her teaching experience began as a seventh grade teacher in Claxton, Georgia.  In 1993, Mrs. McDonald completed her Masters degree in adult and vocational education.  She is also certified as a gifted teacher and as a Teacher Support Specialist.



Experience

Mrs. McDonald's teaching career began as a seventh grade teacher in Claxton in 1988.  Seven years later, she was honored as Claxton Middle School's 1995 Teacher of the Year.  Her next four years were spent at Fort Valley Middle School where she was recognized as TOTY during her second term there. In 1999, Mrs. McDonald joined the Houston County School System as a high school business education teacher at the Crossroads Center.  Then in 2002, she began teaching at Bert Rumble Middle School (now Huntington Middle School).  She has taught all academic subjects as well as several connections classes.  Her certification also encompasses endorsement as a Teacher Support Specialist and as a gifted teacher.  Past experiences include serving as a team leader, a faculty presenter, sponsor of National Beta Club, and cheerleading coach.  Mrs. McDonald is currently enjoying her 26th year of teaching!  She teaches seventh grade social studies on the Angels' team.



Bio

Mrs. Sherry McDonald is currently loving her life as a teacher with 26 years of experience!  Since 2002, she has been a part of the Bert Rumble/Huntington Middle School family.  Mrs. McDonald has been recognized as Teacher of the Year twice.  She has taught all academic classes as well as several connections classes in the 7th-8th grades and computer classes in the 9-12 grades.

 

Mrs. McDonald and her husband, Chris, have two little grandsons.  The majority of their free time is spent with Camden and Briggs.  They also enjoy doing home remodeling projects.
