Huntington Middle School Principal Dr. Gwendolyn Taylor was elected by state coordinators on July 12 to serve on the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) Board of Directors. She will represent middle school principals as the “Middle-level At Large” officer.

Each state in the U.S. had one vote. Dr. Taylor gave a speech during a candidates’ forum in her bid for this office. She will serve a four-year term, from July 2018 through 2022.
NASSP has 25,000 members nationwide and is governed by the Board of Directors, which consists of 20 building administrators.  Dr. Taylor will represent the middle school view point. This Board meets four times per year to take care of the association’s business, which includes policy and advocacy for education.
In addition, Dr. Taylor has served in many roles at the state level. In 2015-16, she was President of the Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals (GASSP), the state’s largest building level administrative association with more than 1,200 members. She has also served as the President Elect and State Coordinator on the GASSP Board of Directors. GASSP promotes cultural and professional development among Georgia’s secondary school administrators and promotes secondary education in the state.
