Students from the Huntington Middle School chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) recently participated in a motivational rally held on Wednesday, October 14 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry, Georgia. Over 4,700 students and advisers from schools across Georgia participated in the leadership rally session . Along with other advisers and members from across the state, Huntington Middle School’s FCCLA Chapter Adviser, Melanie Bratcher, accompanied ten members to the meeting.

2016 Fall Leadership Conference

Covington, GA – Youth from the Huntington Middle School chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) recently participated in a weekend leadership conference held September 15-16, 2016 at the FFA-FCCLA Center in Covington, Georgia. Over 1,200 students and advisers from 200 schools across Georgia participated in leadership workshops, planned the chapter’s program of work and participated in competitions at this location and another in Fort Valley. Students were motivated by the conference theme “2016 Boot Camp”. Along with other advisers and members from across the state, Huntington's FCCLA chapter adviser, Melanie Bratcher, accompanied four members to the meeting.

Members of the Huntington Middle School chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders (FCCLA) recently helped to make pillows for the ICU Ministry of Byron, GA. The ICU Ministry donates approximately 100 bags a month to local hospitals. In addition to the pillow the bags include toiletry items, magazines, and a blanket. Atlanta, GA – Youth from the Bonaire Middle School, Huntington Middle School, Northside Middle School, and Warner Robins Middle School chapters of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) joined over 2,500 members at the Georgia State Capitol for FCCLA Week and FCCLA Day at the Capitol on February 15 The FCCLA Day at the Capitol is designed to stress the importance of being a young leader in their families, careers and communities. The purpose was to meet with Georgia representatives and senators about Career, Technical and Agricultural Education, Family and Consumer Sciences and FCCLA. Students had the opportunity to tour the capitol and learn about Georgia history. The group was able to meet Shaw Blackmon, one of Houston County’s representatives. Chapter advisors are Holly Shepard (BMS), Melanie Bratcher (HMS), Ginger Caldwell (NMS), and Amanda Hayes (WRMS).

Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) members from Huntington Middle School attended the FCCLA National Cluster Meeting in Washington, D.C. November 9-12. National Cluster Meetings provide an opportunity for FCCLA members and advisers to come together to expand leadership skills, sharpen talents, and explore career pathways. FCCLA members strive to make a lasting impression in their families, schools, and communities. Through positive initiatives and strong leadership development, FCCLA prepares its members to make their mark on society.

Farinaz Zahiri and Amanda Grant competed in the FCCLA STAR Event competition at Georgia Southwestern State University on February 10.  Their project in the Life Event Planning category was entitled "Class of 2017" in which they planned a graduation party for Farinaz's brother.  They scored a silver rating.  Congratulations on doing a great job!  We also toured Andersonville National Historic Site on our way home.
